Everyone knows about the imminent “love chub” that can sneak up on couples when you start to get comfortable. Finding fun ways to incorporate dates with some kind of exercise is the key. Walking to and from date night is always a great choice for healthy digestion. When you want to venture outside your neighborhood though, you have to start getting creative.
The Bay Area Bike Share program in SF launched a couple of months ago, so my boyfriend and I decided to check it out finally this weekend! We conveniently picked them up downtown close to our apartment, where it was just $9 each bike for a 24 hour rental. We strolled down to the Mission and stopped for lunch at one of my latest favorite finds, American Grilled Cheese Kitchen. If you haven't been there yet, it’s a must-go (Tip#1: since we are talking about love chub, no worries, you can get your sandwich on gluten free bread; Tip#2: don't try to skim on anything else because the food is amazing).
We then headed to the foot of the Bay Bridge by the water, and rode to the south side of the bridge where we soaked up the sun and tacked on a few extra miles to work off our delicious lunch. All in all, good comfort food doesn’t need to be eliminated when you are in a relationship. However, learning how to balance out the excess with a little cardio during the date never killed anyone.

San Francisco has some of the best farmers markets in the country, and one of my favorite is down by the Embarcadero at the Ferry Building. Beyond the gorgeous atmosphere, it's great because they have a huge selection of organic produce. Buying organic can be "pricey," so I only purchase the produce that is absolutely recommended. If you haven’t checked that list for a while, the organic “dirty dozen” is now what I like to call the “mean 14.” Next time you are at the farmers market, make sure these14 items are organic...
